Dr. Hunter M. Ray is a Research Assistant specializing in Autonomous Systems and Human-Robot Interaction in the Aerospace Department at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on making aerospace systems, including drones and satellites, easier to use. He is also a volunteer rescuer and Lieutenant with the Boulder Emergency Squad where, since 2022, he manages public safety drone operations alongside the Boulder County Sherriff. Prior to coming to Boulder, Hunter was a spacecraft systems engineer at Draper in Boston. Hunter received his PhD and Master’s in Aerospace Engineering at CU Boulder in 2025 and 2022 respectively, and his B.Sc. in mechanical engineering from Brown University in 2018.
