Texas A&M Forest Service
Charles Tice serves as the Lead Radio Communications Specialist for the Texas A&M Forest Service, supporting statewide emergency response operations from the Merkel Radio Communications Office. In this role, I oversees the design, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical communications systems that support wildfire suppression, aviation operations,Lone Star State incident management team, and all-hazard response partners across Texas.
With a focus on reliability, redundancy, and real-world field performance, Charles manages a broad portfolio of technologies including P25 radio systems, multiband subscriber units, JPS RoIP gateways, dispatch console infrastructure, Dejero gateways, Peplink and Starlink connectivity solutions, and emerging OneWeb/Kymeta LEO platforms. He works closely with field operations, aviation, dispatch centers, logistics, and partner agencies to ensure that frontline responders have clear, dependable communications and technogely in the state’s most challenging environments.
Charles leads major infrastructure and modernization efforts such as statewide repeater upgrades, deployment of mobile command post connectivity, and the development of standardized equipment packages for TAMFS fleet programs. He also supports asset tracking, site installation planning, and communications logistics during statewide incident activations.
Known for his hands-on approach, attention to detail, and commitment to responder safety, Charles plays a key role in bridging field needs with technical solutions. His work helps ensure that firefighters, emergency managers, and aviation crews can operate with confidence, coordination, and situational awareness during Texas’ most complex and high-risk events.
