Donald Harriss is the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Technical Lead for the Public Safety Communications Research Division at the United States’ National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST PSCR). Donald is researching the current and future applications for Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) in public safety and first responder events. Currently, he is investigating complex networks for first responder UAS, including long-range communications, mobile ad-hoc networking, and AI-driven intelligence for first responder applications. Donald received a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from Murray State University. Donald has an extensive background in network switching, routing technologies, security middleboxes, and the development of deployable systems, UAS situational awareness platforms, and global telecommunications networks.
