Battalion Chief Dale Rolfson, Chief Technology Officer of the Indianapolis Fire Department, has served as a firefighter in Indianapolis since 1988. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has received numerous awards and recognition for his service. Chief Rolfson has led the department’s technology initiatives for more than 13 years and has been involved in the technology field since 1975.
He continues to share his expertise by chairing various committees and participating in national efforts such as the NIST-sponsored FRST Challenge. A long-standing member of Indiana Task Force 1, a FEMA Urban Search and Rescue team, Chief Rolfson has responded to numerous disaster deployments.
In addition to his operational and technical leadership, Chief Rolfson has mentored and advised college students for over 11 years, playing a key role in introducing innovative technologies to the Indianapolis Fire Department and surrounding public safety agencies.
