David Durstine

Having grown up in the fire service, David is a 4th generation firefighter of career, volunteer and combination departments. He currently serves his community at the Apple Creek Fire Department. This is the root of his passion for the fire service.

For 20+ years, David’s roles at Akron Brass and IDEX Fire & Safety have taken him too many regions of the world to learn as well as educate fire service professionals on various tools and techniques including rural water movement, effective hose streams usage, firefighting with foam, industrial firefighting & safety around the fire ground. He also served previously as President and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Governmental Affair Committee, GAC, for the Fire Apparatus Manufacturers Association (FAMA). David is a principle member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1900, Committee for Automotive Fire Apparatus and a serves on the Congressional Fire Service Institutes, CFSI, National Advisory Council.
