Matthew Portteus dedicated over 20 years to the fire service in the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Fire Department and Alameda County Fire Department, culminating as Division Chief of Operations and IT for Alameda County Fire Department. He brings expertise in multi-jurisdictional projects across local, state, and regional levels, driving innovation, efficiency, and operational excellence to the Western Fire Chiefs Association. Matt has a BS in Fire Adminstration and industry certificates in CyberSecurity.
Currently, Matt serves as a Principal Investigator & Operations Advisor on WFCA projects. His project focus is on WUI wildfire/insurance solutions and regulation alignment, Fire data and technology solutions to bridge the gap between data and technology use and fluency in the fire service.
