Assistant Chief Aaron Bockhorst
Aaron started his firefighting career 29 years ago with the Beaufort Leslie Volunteer Fire District at the age of 16. He began working part-time as an EMT with several local Ambulance Districts in 1998. Aaron worked full-time as an EMT for 6 years before getting hired at the City of Ferguson Fire Department in 2006. He worked as a Captain for 5 years before getting promoted to Assistant Chief in 2024. Aaron is an Instructor 2 and has been teaching almost full-time for 12 years. He has run Firefighter 1&2 programs for Jefferson College, teaches part-time at the St. Louis County Fire Academy, runs North County Training for 18 Departments/Districts in North St. Louis County, and is an Instructor and the Regional Coordinator for MUFRTI in Region C. He is also the Missouri State Lead Advocate for the National Fallen Firefighters Every Goes Home Program. Aaron has an Associate Degree in Paramedicine, is a graduate of the MUFRTI Fire Service Leadership Enhancement Program, and has attended several courses at the National Fire Academy. He is a 2015 Missouri Gold Medal of Valor recipient and a 2022 Missouri Silver Medal of Valor Recipient. Aaron has a passion for not only the Fire Service but also for education.
